GUIDE TO JINSHA SITE MUSEUM
"Home of the Golden Sunbird and ancient Shu brilliance"
Discovered in 2001, Jinsha preserves a 3,000‑year‑old capital of the Shu Kingdom whose gold foils, jade blades and ivory pieces stunned archaeologists worldwide. The award‑winning museum combines massive excavation pits with interactive galleries that bring Bronze‑Age Chengdu to life.
Jinsha Site Museum showcases two core treasures: the Gold Sunbird emblem (now Sichuan’s provincial symbol) and a ten‑foot standing bronze figure thought to depict a Shu priest‑king. Four themed pavilions display 6,000 artifacts, while a vast glass hall protects the in‑situ dig, letting visitors peer at ancient house foundations and sacrificial pits.
The site sits 8 km west of Tianfu Square in downtown Chengdu; reach it in 20 minutes on Metro Line 2 to Jinsha Site Museum Station (Exit B). Plan 2–3 hours to explore exhibits; holidays usually require online passport/ID booking. Adult admission is ¥70 CNY. The museum closes Mondays (except peak months); last entry 17:00. Photography without flash is allowed—bring a jacket, as exhibition halls are kept cool to protect relics.
